Quietude (n.)- a State of Being Calm and Peaceful
You want to relax your shoulders, but you don't know how. Your muscles are constantly tight and stiff. You feel reactive and can't seem to slow down. We can help.
The Alexander Technique (AT) is a sophisticated somatic method that can help you to improve your posture and breathing and interrupt patterns of physical tension that come up in stressful situations. Learning the Alexander Technique can help you to cultivate calm, communicate with clarity, and ground you when the going gets rough. AT utilizes a specialized type of bodywork that can help you to sense and release tension and teach your body how to reset and recalibrate itself when strain arises. The process involves a deep examination of how to coordinate your whole body with ease in any task, and how to use this ease to meet the demands of the moment. It promotes balance, adaptability, and the ability to respond rather than to react to stressful situations.
We start with deep learning on how your breathing and posture functions, and exercises that help you to relax and integrate your body and breath into a coordinated whole. We then look at how to use these systems to resist the pull of stress and tension, and apply exercises and ideas to your chosen field of performance and everyday life.

The Alexander Technique is not very well known, but it has had a profound impact on my life. That’s why I spent 1600 hours and three years certifying as an accredited practitioner and have been working with clients for over 10 years. I come from a high-level performing arts background, and my clients include Grammy award winning musicians, Olympic level athletes, actors on major streaming shows, and C-suite executives. What ties this diverse group together is the need to be confident, connected, and relaxed under pressure. I hope you will give AT a try and see how it can help you to come home to your body.

Offerings
Individual Sessions
Our most personal exploration comes in the form of one-on-one private sessions. Typically these include a strong body work component along with personalized exercises and application to real-life situations. An individual session can help you to prepare for a specific objective or a series of sessions can help you build lasting skill. You can also just come in for some relaxation and to promote ease and wellness in your everyday life! Body work is done on a massage table or in simple stationary forms like sitting and standing and then is taken into everyday activities and practical problem-solving scenarios.
We offer a special ‘Discovery’ session for first time clients to experience AT work for themselves. We then offer coaching packages that give clients access to a series of sessions, or clients can book individual sessions as they wish.
